» November Goals ; 110111

It's time for November goals! I did much better in October than I expected but still didn't finish it..

30. Take family pictures. The cheesy, everyone wearing jeans and a white tee in orange/red/yellow leaves, family pictures. Now that P and I are a bit older, we rarely get to spend time with our parents/grandma as often as before. Wouldn't it be nice to have pictures that aren't from the 90's? :]
29. Bake pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.
28. Lose a bit more weight. I lost about 10 pounds already - yay!
27. Go to Maxwell Street Market with D and go visit my favorite taco man.
26. Start [& finish!] my holiday shopping. I refuse to step foot into a mall during December.
25. Buy a cobalt blue or white blazer.
24. Buy a white lace dress. Why didn't I buy the F21 one?!
23. Update this blog more. It's not a blog for readers but a blog for myself so I'd like to invest a bit more time whenever I can just to post.
22. Donate my clothes. I want to start living a minimalistic lifestyle. Quality > quantity, except for small trendy pieces. I'm always going to be a cheap accessory hunter!
21. Eat Ben & Jerry's Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream. YUM.
20. Be on a makeup no-buy for the rest of the year.
19. Try and finish a perfume before I buy another one. I have a few in mind that I want next but I will try and finish the millions of bottles I have open first.
18. Cook a home-cooked dinner for D.
17. Make a dessert for Thanksgiving.
16. Start a checking or savings account and start saving for more important things!
15. Try to limit drinking pop. Maybe start drinking 1/day?

» One year ago... ; 101911

David,

I'm not going to write a whole lot because I think you already know. I will say that it's definitely been a crazy 1 year, 365 days as your girlfriend. :)

Thank you for being the stubborn man that will not only fight WITH me, but will not hesitate to fight FOR me as well.

I love you!

Yours,
Sylvia

» October Goals ; 100111

It's time again for a new list for October. Some may have filtered over from my September list, but it's okay because this is my list and some are actually more appropriate for the weather in October anyways! =)

Again, not in any particular order but just a few things I'd like to do by the time it hits November.

31. Go pumpkin-picking.
30. Celebrate my mommy's 52nd birthday!
29. Go to a haunted house. I get scared so easily but I think that D will be able to take care of me. :)
28. Lose 8-10 lbs.
27. Do not use my credit card for anything else, unless it is a dire emergency! Fashion is not a dire emergency. :)
26. Have a blog sale. Makeup, clothes, shoes, and accessories. Be prepared to shop! =)
25. Bake a pumpkin pie.
24. Buy a white blazer. Or cobalt blue. Or pink.
23. Celebrate me & David's 1 year anniversary :)
22. Find the perfect red lipstick. I want to try MAC Korean Candy just because of it's name.
21. Make pumpkin muffins! YUM.
20. Buy a leopard print wrap-dress. Or just a wrap dress in general. Wouldn't it look adorable with OTK boots?
19. Upgrade my iPhone?
18. Go to Maxwell Street Market on a Sunday with D.
17. Go apple picking.
16. Try and finish holiday shopping! (Or at least start...)
15. Cut my bangs? I'm ready to take a step from my side-swept to straight bangs!
14. Buy cobalt blue skinnies.
13. Buy the perfect red heels.
12. Go to a festival. I didn't go to any in September! :(
11. Go to Christina's baby's 1 year birthday.
10. Find a white lace dress.
9. Bake white chip walnut cookies!
8. Attend the Friendship Dinner Benefit for the Homeless that is sponsored by Wayside
7. Go downtown. I want to go to museums.
6. Wear a costume to work on Halloween!
5. Go to the farmer's market before they close for the year!
4. Buy a fur vest. Obvs faux fur, but think Rachel Zoe. :)
3. Pay off a chunk of my credit card !!
2. Get another puppy! This is a HUGE maybe.
1. Spend more time with my Grandma. ♥

» Happy Birthday Daddy !

Daddy loves his JJ's :)

Drinking beer, playing chess, & talking about life.

Happy birthday to my one and only Dad. Thank you for putting up with me and always taking my side (secretly) from Mom. Thank you for being on my team against Mom & Pat. I love you and pray that you will live a long and healthy life. Doesn't he look great for 52? ;)

» September Goals

I can't believe it's already September! This year went by way too quickly. I was eating with Catherine and David yesterday for dinner and all 3 of us were amazed at how quickly we had reached our mid-twenties. Can you believe that I'm already 24? Crazy. I still feel like I'm somewhere in between 18-22. They always say that your years in college fly by.. they weren't kidding.

Anyways, for the month of September, I wanted to make some short-term goals so I can look forward to things or feel accomplished. It will be a random list (as I am a pretty random person) so please don't mind as I will be listing things as they come to my mind. I'm going to try coming up with a list of 30 things, one for each day of September. I don't necessary have to do one a day but throughout the whole month of September, this is just a list that I would like to accomplish most, if not all, of.

Sylvia's September Goals [not in any particular order]

30. Make David my red velvet cupcakes.
29. Send Jay & Carrie a present for their new baby girl, Jillian Sarah =)
28. Buy the perfect red heels. (per David's request as well heehee).
27. Purge my makeup stash & my closet.
26. Buy a white blazer. Maybe cream. Or cobalt blue. What about pink? Hm... decisions. :)
25. Buy camo shorts.
24. Take Dad out for his birthday (09/10/11).
23. Help Pat, Richie, & Hyunoo move into their new place.
22. Take Grandma out for a belated birthday dinner.
21. Buy a pair of nude boots. I have cognac, black, brown, so now I need a pair of nude ones, right? :)
20. Go downtown and visit the museums.
19. Start playing with my makeup again. I do the same boring gold/bronzey eyes everyday on work. I want to do crazy blue/purple/green eye looks again!
18. Go to an outdoor concert. Maybe another trip to Ravinia?
17. Buy wedge booties. Black suede or maybe even nude suede. Should I go crazy and get cobalt blue or red wedges? In any case, I want wedge booties. So cute.
16. Make lemon bars. One of my managers at work, his wife made some for a company outing at Ravinia this past weekend that were delicious! I should ask for that recipe...
15. Buy fresh flowers for my living room. I love seeing fresh flowers in my square glass vase on the coffee table. It's simple things like this that make it feel like home.
14. Go to festivals [Long Grove's Apple Fest, Schaumburg's September Fest, Buffalo Grove days, Greek Fest, etc.]
13. Go on a weekend trip with D. Maybe Lake Geneva. Or Galena. Somewhere close enough to drive for just a weekend but far enough from home to justify a trip.
12. Cut my bangs; non-side swept. I've had the same haircut since I was 12!
11. Buy Mommy a Michael Kors watch. She's been eyeing my small collection and I want to buy one for her for a belated birthday present. :) Also, that way she won't steal mine...
10. Have a BBQ at my house, with a couple friends, go swimming, drink a few beers, just have a fun end of the summer evening.
9. Bake white chip chocolate cookies.
8. Go apple-picking. Or pumpkin-picking. Anything with a corn maze, hot apple cider, and hay rides!
7. Buy a maxi dress! I've been wanting one but I have not found the perfect one that doesn't make me look preggers or overwhelms my frame.
6. Ankle booties, non-wedge. I want to buy a crazy color, like cobalt blue or bright red. Nothing like taupe, black, grey. I have so many shoes in those colors!
5. Find the perfect red lipstick. This is so out of my comfort zone but I want one!
4. Find a white lace dress. Doesn't this sound perfect for a transition piece between the summer/fall?
3. Go mini-golfing.
2. Write a handwritten letter. Actually, write a few. I miss receiving actual letters in the mail, rather than e-mails. All I get are bills :(
1. Go on a picnic. Before the weather gets crazy cold, I want to go on a picnic and look at the stars. :)

I don't know how much of these I will accomplish by the end of September, but at least it will help me to keep track of some goals and will keep me busy. Wish me luck!

» Oak Mill Bakery

So David took me to one of his favorite bakeries yesterday afternoon. It's in Niles, IL and from the outside, it looks like any other typical European bakery that specializes in kolaches (hope I didn't spell that wrong..). But once you go inside, you are welcomed with smells of all sorts of delicious pastries, coffee, and even some floral scents from the neighboring flower shop.

I couldn't take my eyes away from their gorgeous cakes. I thought Mont Blanc had the prettiest cakes but now I'm torn! We took home the Ambrosia, which is half hazelnut cream, half chocolate, raspberry truffle layers, white chocolate, and sliced almonds on the icing. Yum.

some of their beautiful cakes

probably just 1/8 of their whole pastry/dessert section
I'm totally going to eat another piece with my Dunkin Donuts hazelnut coffee this morning. :)

» 2011 update

I can't believe that it's already mid-August of 2011! I just signed in while I was at work and realized that my last post was from the beginning of 2011. This year has seriously whizzed by and I can't believe that it's already almost fall.

I know that there are some of you who will read this so this is for you guys, as well as for myself so I can see in the future what my life was like back in 2011 :]

I'm still dating David and we are very happy. I've never been with someone that I felt so strongly about. I think I used to throw the "L" word around without realizing what it truly entailed. It's not simply just an emotion or a saying you say to someone you are dating. I truly love this man that sometimes my heart feels like exploding. He makes me feel so safe and he takes care of me in a way that no one ever has before. When I'm sad or frustrated, he really does care and will take the time out to try and make me smile again. The way that we started dating was definitely unconventional but I think that the reason that we were acquaintances at first, then quickly became friends.. only to realize that I was intrigued by him and here we are... :)

I'm working at PCNation, which is an electronics company (check us out!) that mainly deals with sales via phone or the web. I'm working as their Amazon liason, so if you order something from Amazon and PCNation is the merchant company, I will see your order! I really like it here.. the work environment and my co-workers are fun so it's definitely not a job that I dread waking up for every morning. I will be switching some of my responsibilities around soon and there's word around here about a promotion so keep your fingers crossed for me!

Family's good. My cousin Jane is expecting her 2nd child, a baby girl in November of this year so I'm super excited for her! My other cousin Sarah is off to college this year.. I can't believe she's at that age..

Friends are good.. I think since the late portion of last year and all throughout this year has helped me realize who my true friends are. I think that the people I consider closest to me were people that I never thought would be that close with, but our personalities fit and they are people that I would not hesitate to do anything for. They got my back so I got theirs <3

Anyways, I'm sorry I don't have any pictures or whatever. This is a boring post but at least when I look at it the next time I update (maybe like 8 months from now LOL), I'll know what was going on with my life.

Til next time,

Sylvia
